UAV for Multi-hazard Vulnerability Risk Assessment

Nepal is experiencing severe impacts from climate change, largely due to deforestation. This has led to problems like fuel scarcity and increased erosion in rural areas. To tackle these issues, the Ministry of Forests and Environment, UNDP, and the Global Environment Facility have launched a drone-based seeding project under the title “UAV for Multi-hazard Vulnerability Risk Assessment (MHVRA) in Lower Dudhkoshi Watershed”. Our team at Geovation Nepal got involved in this initiative, to ensure precise and efficient implementation of the project.

A UAV drones was customized to disperse seed balls containing native tree species, manure, and nutrients over degraded lands. This innovative approach aims to restore Nepal’s forests quickly and cost-effectively.

Local leaders have praised the initiative, noting its potential to rapidly transform deforested areas. Following successful pilot tests, there are plans to expand drone-based seeding to more regions.

We are extremely proud to be part of this initiative, which can significantly change the course of reforestation in Nepal. We look forward to many more such impactful projects.
